Attention Parents & Teachers,
With many people worldwide embarking upon home-schooling, Dumond Education is making many of our resources freely available from now until the end of April.
This includes our popular CardEd series (apps, cards, Activity Guide, and Activity Workbooks) to support language development, mathematical development and thinking skills, as well as our Guided Research Project on a country (adaptable framework) and the sample Guided Research Project on Malaysia.
What is CardEd?
CardEd has been designed to support learning in a wide range of realms – language development, mathematical development and thinking skills. Each card is divided into zones (Colour, Symbol, Letter, Word, Number and Mathematical/Image Zone) with lots of teaching hints and ideas provided for each one. CardEd cards have been designed to be multi-purpose and can be adapted for use with children of various ages.
4 sets of 50 printable cards, together with the bumper activity guide, are free to download from our shop.
This video provides more information about CardEd.
Our CardEd apps are also available for free in the app store. These allow you to scroll through, find an activity idea you like, select a card and then undertake the activity. This might be count on in tens from the number on the card or identify the colour on the card and think of a flag/logo/team featuring this colour. Fun, easy activities that boost language and thinking skills but feel like a game – a definite win if home-school grumbles are beginning!
For older children and English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners, our CardEd Activity Workbooks are invaluable. Access CardEd Activity Workbook Set 1 and CardEd Activity Workbook Set 2 by clicking these links. By downloading both, you have access to 100 day’s worth of daily activities, focusing on a mix of language and vocabulary development, spelling skills, mathematical skills, general knowledge, and 21st Century Skills. Use in conjunction with ideas from the Bumper Activity Guide to get even more use out of your download!

What is our Guided Research Project?
To support learning about the world, our Guided Research Project on a country (adaptable framework) is also available for free, as is our Guided Research Project on Malaysia. These have been designed to promote independent research and investigation, enabling pupils to build knowledge of other countries, whilst honing their questioning skills, learning how to evaluate the validity of information they find and considering how to present information to an audience.
I recommend beginning with the Guided Project on Malaysia so that your child is scaffolded through the process of researching a country. They can then use the questions and prompts in the adaptable framework to research another location of their choice. It is important to note your child does not need to research every topic/aspect provided in the framework. In this way, they are afforded a measure of control over their learning, and this is significantly more motivational for them.
Check out our FREE resources and download now. Please share with others how you are using them so that we can support each other as a community of teachers and learners. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, and I will happily do my best to answer and provide help.
