I’ve really been enjoying lots of the puzzles and challenges people have been uploading to social media in recent days.
I found the following figures of speech challenge on Twitter and posted it to our Dumond Facebook account yesterday and loved having so many friends work together to try to discover all 27 figures of speech depicted.
I cannot find the original source for this document; if you know the creator, please let me know so that I can credit it appropriately.
Having enjoyed the creations of others so much, I was inspired to try designing my own puzzle and am pleased to share with you today my 100 + Compound Words Challenge. Can you figure out the compound words I have formed using emojis?
In the PDF, I explain what compound words are and the different types to be found so, as well as being a bit of fun, this is also a useful teaching tool!
For some of the images, more than one answer is possible. Bear in mind, I designed this for use with children so this image
represents blackboard rather than film noir although the latter is an infinitely better answer kindly supplied by my good friend Mel who road-tested the challenge for me. Thank you, Mel.
I hope this challenge brings some fun to your homes in the coming days and gets you all thinking. If there are some brilliant puzzles you or your family have been enjoying, please do share. Although quarantine may be tough, the cooperation and coming together of people we are seeing is something really positive to focus on and celebrate.
