Here are some ideas for using CardEd to promote sorting and categorisation. The ideas in each zone are listed in order of challenge. Other ideas and extension tasks, using common items, are listed alongside. To begin, the following definitions are used:
- Sorting: To separate according to criteria.
- Categorising: To assign a category.
Begin by having children sort items. Later ask for their help with organising. See how they categorise the cards (or other objects) and explain their thought processes. Ask them to explain what criterion they are using.
